The 4th edition of the Cypriot-Italian Business Forum, titled “Italian and Cypriot NRRPs: Relaunching the Mediterranean Economy through Cooperation” co-organised by the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of Cyprus, Ministry of Economic Development of Italy and Unioncamere, took place in Rome on 29th September 2021 with a really important presence from Institutions and Industry.
The event, held at the prestigious Westin Excelsior Hotel Rome and moderated by Federico Franchina, Vice President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce focused on some of the most relevant sectors for NRRPs such as ICT Sector, Innovation in Health Sector and Pharmaceutical Distribution, Waste to Energy and Innovation in Agriculture and was also an opportunity to share experiences and new projects on the Italian-Cypriot Axis.
After the opening remarks of the President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, Giuseppe Marino and the institutional greetings of Andrea Prete, President of Unioncamere and Claudio Pasqualucci, Director of the Italian Trade Agency Beirut Office for Cyprus, Lebanon and Syria, it was the Deputy Minister of Economic Development H.E. Gilberto Pichetto Fratin to offer the institutional greeting on behalf of Italian Government, recalling the excellent relations between Italy and Cyprus and confirming the government’s willingness to keep working and further develop the collaboration within the framework of the plan to relaunch the Mediterranean economy, which is one of the priorities of the government’s agenda.
After the important institutional greetings of particular value and interest has been the Address Speech of H.E. Natasa Pilides, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry of Cyprus that, after reiterating the willingness to further develop cooperation with Italy, has shown recent data about commercial exchanges regarding trade in goods and services between Italy and Cyprus, highlighting the relevant opportunities for Italian companies in several sectors and confirming the country’s interest incentivising and facilitating business development with several measures including the interesting mechanism “Fast-track”, reserved for foreign companies to whom, if certain requirements are met, are guaranteed completion of registration and licensing procedures in just 7 days.
Particularly noteworthy was the panel of speakers, representatives of major Cypriot and Italian companies who spoke in succession, such as Marios Giorgoudis, General Manager of TechIsland on the topic “Building a Technology Ecosystem in Cyprus”, Pierluigi Petrone, CEO Petrone Group, President of Assoram and Member of Chairmen Committee of Farmindustria, over the “Innovation in Health and Pharmaceutical Distribution”, Antonis Kountouris, Research & Development Manager of Nicolaides & Kountouris Metal Company on the “Industrial Waste Management Solutions and Circular Economy: Best Practices in Cyprus” and Andrea Benetton, President Maccarese S.p.A. and Cirio Società Agricola S.r.l., who presented the best practices of their companies with regard to to “Innovation in Agriculture”.
The closing remarks were given by Constantinos Katsaros, Vice President Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, after thanking the authoritative speakers and numerous present guests, emphasised the central role of the Chamber in the consolidation and further development of cooperation between Italian and Cypriot companies, as well as the important cooperation with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, co-organiser also this year for the Forum, and with the institutions of both countries in the specific venue represented by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of Cyprus and the Ministry of Economic Development of Italy.
The event was followed by a networking cocktail with numerous B2B meetings.
