The Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce had the honour of hosting an important event dedicated to the Humanitarian Mission of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta at its headquarters in Nicosia, in the presence of distinguished diplomatic and religious representatives.
The event, organized by H.E. Domenico Giani, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Cyprus, was graced by the presence of His Most Reverend Excellence Monsignor Gianpietro Dal Toso, Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Cyprus and Titular Archbishop of Foraziana, alongside Monsignor Georgio Chezza, Chargé d’Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature, and Monsignor Selim Sfeir, Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus.
Particularly valuable was the speech of His Serene Highness Prince Mariano Hugo of Windisch-Graetz, Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, who led discussions on the Order’s vital humanitarian work in various countries.
The event was opened by the President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, Giuseppe Marino, who welcomed the guests following the opening prayer of the Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus, Selim Sfeir. The evening highlighted the historical bonds connecting the Order of Malta to Cyprus since the 1200s and explored its contemporary humanitarian initiatives.
Particular attention was given to the Order’s significant role in current humanitarian activities supporting the population of Gaza, operations being coordinated through Cyprus.
As Chamber President emphasized during the evening, “Business is made by humans and it is based on human relations, feelings and trust. There is no economic development without strong human relations”. This philosophy underscores the Chamber’s commitment to fostering not only Italian-Cypriot commercial relations but also supporting initiatives that promote international cooperation and service to humanity.
The evening concluded with a cocktail reception, allowing guests to continue their conversations and strengthen the bonds of service and shared values that unite the business and humanitarian communities.
