It has been signed on 19 February 2024 the Memorandum of understanding between the Department of Productive Activities of the Sicily Region and the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

This is a path, announced on the occasion of the V Cypriot-Italian Business Forum held in Palermo in December 2022, which will lead in the coming months to the organization of outgoing and incoming activities in collaboration with the Cyprus-Italy Business Association and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry which also represents a model that will also be developed in other Italian regions in consideration of their specific competences in supporting the internationalization processes of enterprises.

“The interaction with the Mediterranean represents a strategic opportunity to be seized. For many years the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce has been working to encourage and support the internationalization processes of Italian companies towards Cyprus through specific technical and operational support intended for both large and medium-sized and small and micro companies. In this regard, it can organize visits by delegations of local companies, representing the main production sectors of Sicily, with the aim of encouraging an opening towards new commercial channels and activating collaborative relationships between institutions and trade associations” stated the Regional Minister Tamajo.

In line with what was stated by Regional Minister Tamajo, President Marino reiterated the great opportunities for cooperation and commercial development for Italian companies in Cyprus, where the Chamber operates in close synergy with the Cyprus-Italy Business Association headed by the local Chamber of Commerce (Kebe) and with the other local institutions, also underlined in this regard the strategic nature of the country as a commercial hub for the entire eastern Mediterranean area.

The protocol signed by Regional Minister Tamajo and the President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber, Giuseppe Marino, will be implemented through an action program, drawn up by a Technical Committee composed of the Regional Minister for Productive Activities, or his delegate, by the Sprint Sicily Manager Tommaso Di Matteo, by the President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and by two members for each of the entities indicated by them.

The action program of the protocol will identify the interventions and actions between the two bodies, with definition of the implementation times, monitoring indicators and evaluation and control criteria.

During the signing of the protocol, in addition to Regional Minister Tamajo and President Marino, the president of the Sprint desk of the Department of Productive Activities Tommaso Di Matteo and the Vice President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Federico Franchina were present.
