It was held on April 27th the Monthly Smart Talk organized by the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, which saw as guest Mr. Pierluigi Petrone, President of Assoram, the National Association of Logistic and Commercial Operators of Primary Pharmaceutical Distribution.
After the introductory greetings by the President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Giuseppe Marino, the discussion was moderated by Vice President Costas Katsaros.
The Smart Talk was enhanced by illustrating the role of Assoram which, since 1965, has operated in the Italian market as the National Association of Logistic and Commercial Operators of Primary Pharmaceutical Distribution in order to enhance its strategic role within the healthcare distribution chain and which manages over 90% of pharmaceutical products in terms of distribution.
Answering the various questions put to him by Vice President Costas Katsaros, some of which were brought to the attention of the Chamber by leading operators in the sector, concerning the distribution of vaccines, medicines, and testing tools for Covid-19, Pierluigi Petrone underlined how Cyprus can be an excellent hub in the Mediterranean region, being a bridge between the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa, area, the latter, that will soon demand the same European health standards.
Of particular interest was the in-depth of the actual situation of the vaccines, which show that there are only four out of five vaccines available in the European market that has been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), but other fifteen new vaccines are on discovery stage, and they will probably be available in the market by the end of 2021, beginning of 2022.
At the end of the meeting, Pierluigi Petrone, also a member of the Advisory Board of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, reiterated the importance of the International Chamber’s System to stimulate the cooperation and the development of synergies between Italian and foreign companies, mentioning his positive experience with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.
